Restorative Yoga
Slow down, release tension and restore your body and mind through supported stillness.
Is this for you?
Restorative Yoga is a deeply calming practice designed to help the body slow down and fully unwind. Using props to comfortably support each pose, you'll settle into gentle positions held for longer periods, allowing the body and nervous system to rest and recover.
This class is ideal if you:
- •are looking for deep relaxation and stress relief
- •want to support better sleep and recovery
- •are feeling physically or mentally depleted
- •need time to slow down and recharge during the week
Suitable for all levels, including complete beginners. No previous yoga experience is needed.
What to expect
Arrive a few minutes early and your teacher will help you get settled with bolsters, blankets and other supportive props.
The class is slow, quiet and deeply restorative. You'll move through a series of supported poses held for several minutes at a time, allowing the body to soften and release without effort. There's no need to push or strain, the props support your body so you can fully relax into each position.
Classes may include gentle breathwork, relaxation techniques and light stretching, finishing with an extended relaxation to help you fully unwind.
Many students notice improvements in their sleep, stress levels and overall recovery. Your body temperature may drop during longer holds, so bringing an extra layer is always recommended.
Restorative Yoga offers a very different experience from Yoga Flow or Fundamentals. If you struggle to slow down, this may be the class your body needs most.

Common questions
Not at all. This class requires no flexibility or previous yoga experience. You simply need to be comfortable slowing down and allowing your body to be fully supported.
No. There's no flowing sequences or muscular effort. Each pose is fully supported with props and held for several minutes at a time. The experience is closer to guided rest than exercise.
Bring a yoga mat (mats available to hire for $2), a water bottle and warm, comfortable clothing you can fully relax in. Layers are recommended as body temperature can drop during longer holds. All other props are provided.
Please reach out before your first class so we can discuss what's going on. Restorative Yoga is one of the gentlest classes we offer and is often suitable for people recovering from injury or managing physical tension.
There is limited street parking available on Austin Street. Lane Cove Market Square offers 2 hours free parking, and The Canopy car park is only a short walk away.
Yoga Fundamentals focuses on active movement, strength and alignment work, while Restorative Yoga is entirely supported and designed for deep rest and recovery. Many students enjoy both, Fundamentals for building their practice, and Restorative for slowing down and unwinding.
