The Confident Birth Partner
Feel calm, capable and genuinely useful during labour, birth and the first hours of meeting your baby.
Why this workshop is different
We're usually the ones reading the books, planning every detail and carrying the mental load, while our partners stand nearby unsure how to truly help.
This workshop changes that.
Birth is not a spectator sport. Your partner won't just learn about labour, they'll practise real techniques to support you through it. Together you'll explore movement, comfort measures, breathing, communication and decision making so you can approach birth feeling connected, prepared and supported as a team.
This is not a lecture filled with overwhelming medical information or unrealistic "perfect birth" scenarios. It's hands on, practical and grounded in what actually helps during labour and birth.
What you'll do together
You'll spend the workshop moving, practising and learning how to work together through labour and birth. Your partner will learn:
• how to physically support you through contractions
• massage, pressure point and rebozo inspired comfort techniques
• labour positions for different stages of birth
• how to recognise the different stages of labour
• how to help you stay calm, focused and grounded
• how to advocate for your preferences during labour and birth
• verbal coaching and emotional support techniques
• how to support both vaginal and caesarean births
We'll also cover understanding interventions, creating a supportive birth environment and protecting the immediate postpartum "golden hour" after birth.
Many couples say this is the first time they truly understand how to approach birth as a team.
Is this workshop right for you?
This workshop is for you if:
• you want your partner to feel calm, confident and genuinely helpful during labour
• you want practical tools, not just information
• you're preparing for a hospital birth, birth centre birth or caesarean birth
• you want to feel more connected and supported as a team
• you're feeling anxious about the unknowns of labour and birth
Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, this workshop meets you where you are and helps you step into birth feeling more prepared, connected and supported.

What our members say
My husband and I did a tailored birth preparation session with Tatiana. We were looking for something more personalised to our specific circumstances, and she was incredible at meeting us where we were at and adapting the session to suit our needs.
“I attended the birth preparation workshop with my partner which I found to be immensely helpful and informative. The class prepared us for the birth journey and enabled me to help my partner during labour. I highly recommend the workshop for first time dads.”
“The birth preparation for couples workshop was thought-provoking, informative and empowering. My husband and I feel the workshop equipped us with the practices and knowledge we needed to feel confident about a calm and controlled labour experience.”
Common questions
Both workshops run for 3.5 hours and include thoughtfully designed take-home homework activities to continue the conversations beyond the workshop itself.
The homework is not complicated or overwhelming. Instead, it is designed to spark important discussions between couples and encourage reflection around topics that many parents don't think about until they are already in the situation.
The Confident Birth Workshop homework includes creating a detailed birth preferences plan, exploring various birth scenarios and options, and discussing important "Plan B" and "Plan C" conversations together.
The Confident Parent Workshop homework focuses on preparing emotionally and practically for the fourth trimester, helping couples reflect on support, communication, expectations, and the transition into parenthood.
The intention is not to create stress, but to help couples feel more connected, informed, and prepared.
We generally recommend attending between 28–36 weeks pregnant, with the ideal timing being around 30–35 weeks. This allows enough time to process the information, practise the tools and techniques discussed, and have meaningful conversations together before birth. Occasionally, learning more about birth can bring up fears or anxieties, but most women actually feel calmer and more confident once they understand the process and feel prepared.
Yes. Both workshops are designed specifically for couples and birth partners, as we strongly believe birth and early parenthood are team experiences.
However, if a partner is unavailable or not attending the birth for personal, cultural, or religious reasons, we still highly encourage having a support person attend with you. This may be a friend, family member, mother, or another chosen support person.
If someone is planning to birth without personal support, we highly recommend considering the support of a birth doula. While medical staff provide excellent clinical care, having a dedicated support person whose role is solely to support you emotionally and physically during labour can make an enormous difference to the birth experience.
No, the workshop fee is $300 per couple. This includes both attendees, the full 3.5-hour workshop experience, educational materials and the take-home homework activities.
The Confident Birth Workshop is primarily designed around preparing couples for vaginal birth and labour, while also discussing caesarean birth as an important Plan B scenario and helping couples feel informed and emotionally prepared if birth takes a different path than expected.
If you are planning an elective caesarean birth, we would recommend reaching out to organise a private workshop session tailored specifically to your individual circumstances and birth journey.
A private session allows us to focus more deeply on topics relevant to planned caesarean birth, including preparing emotionally for surgery, understanding the procedure and recovery process, partner support during and after birth, creating a calm and connected birth experience, early bonding, breastfeeding considerations, and preparing for the fourth trimester after caesarean birth.
Our goal is always to help parents feel informed, supported, calm, and confident, regardless of how their baby enters the world.
