Postnatal massage therapy — supporting recovery and easing tension after birth

Postnatal Massage

Supportive, restorative massage to help you recover, ease tension and feel like yourself again after birth.

Why postnatal massage matters

Birth changes your body.

Whether your birth was straightforward or complicated, vaginal or caesarean, the weeks that follow place enormous demands on your muscles, joints, nervous system and energy reserves.

Add feeding, carrying, interrupted sleep and the physical demands of caring for a newborn, and it's no surprise so many mothers feel exhausted, sore and depleted.

Postnatal massage provides a chance to pause, recover and reconnect with your body.

This is not simply relaxation. Each treatment is tailored to support your recovery, ease physical tension and help you feel more comfortable in your body as you navigate early motherhood.

You spend so much of early motherhood caring for everyone else. Postnatal massage is an opportunity for someone to care for you.

What to expect from your session

Your session begins with a short conversation about how you're feeling and what your body needs.

Your treatment is then tailored to you. That might mean focused work on your shoulders and upper back (from feeding and carrying), your lower back and hips, or a more restorative full-body session.

We adjust everything to your comfort, your recovery and your energy levels on the day. So much of early motherhood is about giving. This is a space where you get to receive.

Common reasons mothers book

Postnatal massage may help with:

• Neck, shoulder and upper back tension from feeding, carrying and holding your baby

• Lower back discomfort and postural strain

• Tight hips and glutes

• General body aches and muscular fatigue

• Physical recovery after birth

• Feelings of stress, overwhelm and exhaustion

• Creating space to rest, recharge and receive support

Many mothers tell us that booking a massage is the first hour they've had entirely to themselves since their baby arrived.

FAQ

Common questions

Most women book their first postnatal massage from around 4–6 weeks after birth, although every recovery is different.

If you've had a caesarean birth, you may not feel comfortable lying on your tummy straight away, and that's completely fine. Treatments can be adapted using side-lying positions and supportive bolsters to ensure you're comfortable throughout your session.

If you're unsure whether you're ready, feel free to get in touch and we'd be happy to guide you.

Comfortable clothing is best. Shorts are recommended as they allow access to the hips, glutes and legs, which often carry a lot of tension after pregnancy and birth.

We offer a range of appointment lengths to suit your needs and schedule:

• 30 minutes — $80
• 45 minutes — $110
• 60 minutes — $130
• Home Visit — $160

All massage types are available across these appointment options.

Yes, in many cases.

We understand that finding time for yourself can be one of the biggest challenges of early motherhood, and sometimes there simply isn't anyone available to look after your baby.

Michal is a dad himself and understands the realities of life with a newborn. If you're comfortable having your baby with you during the treatment, we're happy to discuss what might work best.

Some mums choose to bring a partner, grandparent or support person who can stay nearby and help if baby needs feeding, settling or a cuddle during the session.

If you're planning to bring your baby, please get in touch before booking so we can help create the most relaxing experience possible for everyone.

Yes.

Home visits are available across Sydney for $160.

They're especially popular during the early weeks when packing the baby bag and leaving the house can feel like a major expedition.

There's limited street parking on Austin Street. The Lane Cove Market Square car park directly across the road offers 2 hours free parking, and The Canopy car park is approximately a 4 minute walk away.
