Mat pilates class using Pilates rings at Evolvere Lane Cove

Pilates Mat

Build core strength, improve posture and move with greater precision and control.

Is this for you?

Pilates Mat is a focused strengthening class built around alignment, control and precision. Designed to improve posture, stability and overall movement quality, it creates a strong foundation for everything else you do.

This class is ideal if you:

want to strengthen your core and improve your posture

are looking for a low impact class that still offers a challenge

want to move with greater strength, control and awareness

are focusing on injury prevention, mobility and long term movement health

Suitable for everyone from beginners through to experienced movers. Exercises can be modified or progressed to support your body, experience level and stage of movement, with guidance offered throughout class.

For women in the early postpartum period, we recommend beginning with our specialised Postnatal Pilates classes before transitioning into Pilates Mat.

What to expect

Arrive a few minutes early. Your teacher will introduce themselves, ask if you have any injuries or concerns, and help you get set up with a mat and any props you need.

The class runs for about an hour. You'll start with breath work and gentle activation to find your alignment. From there you'll work through a series of mat-based exercises focused on your deep stabilising muscles, building core strength, pelvic stability and spinal control. Every exercise gets clear cues and hands-on corrections so you know you're doing it right.

The focus is always on quality over quantity. You won't rush through anything. The class finishes with stretching and a few minutes to reset.

Most people find that what they learn here carries into everything else they do, whether that's running, lifting or just picking up the kids.

Testimonials

What our members say

After two children (now grown up), too much eating and not enough exercise, my abs were begging for me to rediscover them! I love this class as it's challenging and I can actually feel my muscles switch on.

Evolvere Member

Highly recommend the Pilates Mat classes at Evolvere. They are always different and are a fantastic and fun workout. Tatiana is so caring and she knows how to progress the class or make specific suggestions if you have chronic pain injury. Best class I have been to in Lane Cove.

Suzanne Herring

Classes are fantastic and Tatiana is an amazing teacher who always keeps an eye on the individual needs and abilities. Thanks to her personalised approach I could keep going with yoga, pilates and power circuit even with an injured ankle.
